Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

This inflammatory intestinal condition affects the large intestine. In individuals with IBS, the muscular contractions of the intestine are irregular and uncoordinated, interfering with the movement of waste materials through the bowel. Symptoms include: constipation and diarrhea, abdominal pain, excess secretion of mucus in stools, nausea, flatulence, bloating, and anorexia.

Dietary Strategy:

Increase dietary fibre, avoid refined sugar, and rule out food sensitivity.
