Progesterone Cream - Guidelines for Use |
 |
|
 |
1. DOSAGES VARY
Dosage will vary greatly depending on the individual. The desired results (i.e. to counter PMS or increase bone mass) will also have an effect on the dosage. In PMS, the
dose needs to be high enough to prevail over the existing estrogen. After menopause, when estrogen levels are low, progesterone levels will be a great deal lower. It is possible that after your body becomes used to the progesterone you will only need 1/4 teaspoon a day.
2. RECOMMENDED USE
Apply 1/4-1/2 teaspoon (total amount per day) of Natural Progesterone Cream to your face & neck, upper chest & breasts, inner lower arms (between wrist and elbow) with your fingertips. Rotate daily the site of application.
Pre-Menopausal And Peri-Menopausal Women
Apply for 2 weeks out of the month. Use between days 12 to 26 of the menstrual cycle. (Day 1 is the first day of bleeding.)
Note: If bleeding starts before day 26 (or before its normal time), stop taking progesterone cream and begin counting up to day 12. Begin using progesterone again. It may
take several cycles to synchronize your cycle rhythms.
Post-Menopausal Women or Post Hysterectomy:
Apply for 3 weeks out of the month and discontinue until the following month.
3. SPECIAL USE SITUATIONS:
For Bone Health:
Apply 1/2-3/4 tsp daily. Follow the appropriate application schedule for either Pre-menopausal or Post-menopausal women.
Women With More Severe PMS:
May apply 1/2 -3/4 tsp of Natural Progesterone Cream.
Women Who Experience Uterine Cramping:
May apply the cream just above the pubic area at the onset of cramps.
Women Who Experience Hormone-Related Headaches:
May apply Progesterone Cream to the sides of the neck, just behind the earlobe, at the onset of headaches. Stop using the cream on day 28.
Women Who Are Experiencing Hot Flashes:
Can apply a small dab of Progesterone Cream to the inside of the wrist at the onset of a hot flash.
Women Taking a Cyclic Estrogen Supplement:
Check with your health care professional and if you wish to decrease your estrogen dosage start gradually by decreasing to 1/2 when beginning usage of Natural Progesterone Cream. Estrogen dosages can be halved again every 2-3 months until the optimal level of Estrogen is reached which is the minimal amount to prevent vaginal dryness.
Women Taking a Synthetic Progesterone:
If you are also taking synthetic progesterone, the benefits of Natural Progesterone Cream will be reduced by the presence of progestin. Check with your health care professional about discontinuing the use of progestin.
For Women Who Are Still Menstruating:
The most effective time to apply progesterone cream is 12 days after the 1st day of your period, continue use for 14 days then stop. Repeat each month. |
