Diabetes Mellitus

Results from insufficient production of insulin by pancreas, leading to high levels of glucose in the blood and poor absorption of glucose by tissues. Is generally divided into two categories: Type I, called insulin dependent or juvenile diabetes, and Type II called non-insulin dependent or adult onset diabetes.
