Viagra May Promote Sticky Platelets Responsible for Heart Attacks

7th Dec 2003

INTRODUCTION
Researchers may have found an explanation as to why some men taking Viagra experienced an increased risk of suffering a heart attack.

According to a study published in the journal Cell, Viagra promotes platelet aggregation, when blood platelets stick together, clogging the arteries and promoting heart attacks and strokes.

The reason Viagra may encourage platelets to clump together is because the drug increases levels of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), a compound in cells that was previously thought to inhibit platelet aggregation. In this current study of animal and human cells, however, researchers showed that cGMP actually encourages platelets to stick together. Consequently, the researchers, concluded, Viagra may indeed cause cardiac death in some men.

Natural alternatives to Viagra include muira puama, panax ginseng, mucana pruriens, arginine, choline and tribulus terrestris (all found in VRP's Natural Libido Enhancer). These natural substances often work well in combination with VRP's AndroSpray, a testosterone precursor that can aid in enhancing sexual desire.
